Full Version History for file objects, how?

Havibng spent years wortking with V3 until I retired I’m now relearning V5. Its way different but offers some great features. One of which is comprehensive versioning.
However the docs strongly suggest that there is full version history available for file/Image objects. I dont mean simple Draft / Live but full history.

Is this the case or am I mistaken. If it is a feature (and I have installed “versioned” “asset-admin” and "versioned-snapshot-admin) then how on earth do I enable it - presumably in YML config.

I’m not sure what you mean by “full versioning” and “full history” specifically, but:

• If you want to retain old versions of the actual files themselves, not just the database entries, you need to enable it as documented in https://docs.silverstripe.org/en/5/developer_guides/files/file_management/#configuring-file-archiving
• If you want to enable the view of file version history in the CMS, you need to use this YAML configuration:

  SilverStripe\AssetAdmin\Forms\FileFormFactory:
    show_history: true
