We’ve had a great suggestion from a comment on our blog around using standardised performance benchmarks for our framework: TechEmpower Framework Benchmarks. I think it’s a good idea to have (somewhat) objective metrics from standardised systems (EC2) against other frameworks. SilverStripe will definitely not be winning any prizes there, but even just visualising the gap and tracking it over time is worthwhile.
Is anyone interested in implementing the five “test types” in SilverStripe, and submitting them to their Github repository? It looks reasonably straightforward, e.g. a controller which serialises a JSON string, or runs a query. See TechEmpower Framework Benchmarks
